Striving for Sarah: My Sister, My Superhero
The Cancer Research Society Challenge is a cycling journey from Tuscany to Rome that I'm embarking on to fight cancer. Funds raised through this challenge will support breakthrough research, positively impacting persons undergoing treatments and preventing this terrible disease.
I am undertaking this important challenge in the honor of my beautiful, 39 year old sister Sarah who is currently conquering the Beast. She was recently diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. So far she has undergone two surgeries, is currently taking breast cancer targeted treatment medications, and will start radiotherapy treatments shortly. As I mentally and physically surpass myself while I prepare for and participate in this ride, I will think of my sister’s own journey and find the strength to pursue beyond any challenge or limitation I may face. She is MY SUPER HERO!
Last year, I had the pleasure of participating in a cancer fundraising event. I cycled from Montreal to Quebec City over 2 days, in a team of 83 cyclists and together we raised over $200 000. I am so determined, that I will be dedicating two weeks of vacation to participate in this fundraising event. It involves a grueling cycling distance of 230 kms through the hills and over the mountains, from May 22 to June 01, 2020. Every participant's individual goal is to raise at least $11,000. To make this happen, I will be donating my time, my physical and mental determination, and a personal contribution.
I am soliciting you and/or your organization to donate to a very important cause. All donations over CAD $ 20.00 are tax deductible. I trust that I can count on your support and generosity. We need to win this fight. You can donate online simply by clicking on the link on this page.
Any amount, great or small, helps the Cancer Research Society in its fight against cancer. I greatly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.
Thank you so much for caring.
